  1. I am reading the book "This is how I Lied," and the reason I choose this book was because I heard it was really good and I wanted to see for myself. In the reading so far there was a murder that happened 25 years ago and a girl named Eve Knox was found. Her bestfriend Maggie, and sister Nola found her body, but the killer was never found. Fast forward 25 years and a shoe that belonged to Eve was found near the spot she was killed, so the case reopens. Maggie which was her best friend is now a cop and decides she wants to do Eve justice and find the killer. I think this book is so interesting and I find it hard to put the book down.

  2. I am reading the book "Three Good things", by Lois Peterson. I chose this book because I wanted to read a book with some drama and trouble in the story line. I wanted something that was going to have me hooked and not bored. I started out by looking at the covers of books to see if they were interesting, then I read the summary to see if it was something I liked. If I liked both of these things then I would then read the first chapter and I picked my favorite one. My initial thoughts so far is I am enjoying it so far. I am hooked and it is very interesting so far. It started off right away by jumping into the book like we have been reading the book, then it gave us background information, which was nice.

  3. I am reading the book "The Game of Life" by Jason McElwain. I choose this book because it is about basketball and is a real life story about a kid who has autism. I like reading more about the real life stories because it makes it easier to relate to which makes for a better read. It is a pretty quick and easy read. The start of it was good and I enjoyed reading it but now it seems like it is repeating itself and kind of makes for a boring read. It is not bad but it is not as enjoyable. I just hope the book picks up again and actually becomes more enjoyable and stops repeating itself.

  4. I am reading "Tuesdays with Morrie" by Mitch Albom. I chose this book because a bunch of others have read this book and have said it is based off a true story about a former college professor dying from ALS. Asking others what book they would recommend was the process i used to pick a book. There was no specific reason why I chose this book besides others have said it is a good book. The book starts off by Mitch just watching the news and sees his old college professor on Nightline and he is shocked. Morrie, His old professor, is dying from ALS. So far i am hooked because Morrie is an interesting man with a lot of wisdom. Mitch and Morrie also have a strong bond even though they have not seen each other in 20 years.

  14. The final book that I chose to read for this class was Tuesday’s with Morrie. The reason that I picked this is because we were reading it in Comp so I thought it was a no brainer to save me time and only read 1 book for two classes instead of two separate ones. I have already finished this book as we read through it quickly for Comp but it starts off with a backstory on Mitch the student and Morrie the professor. The book states how good of a relationship they had while Mitch was in college. It then comes back to the present and Mitch tells how he got back in touch with Morrie and how he found out he was suffering from ALS. After the story is set it hops right into the first Tuesday that Mitch went to go visit Morrie. Right here is when I was hooked as Mitch had so many things going on in his but would not put it on hold to go see Morrie. Mitch sat in the street for some time to finish a phone call while Morrie was inside dying. This just really put into perspective for me that all of us need to slow down and not be so career oriented. Money and success are not everything in life, the memories, and moments we spend with friends, family and loved ones is what life is about. Knowing that all the topics in this book were some that I need to do better myself helped to keep me intrigued.

The talented young pianist is already angry with her mother over her refusal to attend the Juilliard music school, and is in no mood to spend the holidays away from her friends in a small Southern beach town. I'm glad we were able to chose our last book because for once its a book that i like to read and one I can enjoy reading.

    1. Hi Makenna
This book gives me TV series vibes where their are family issues that they are known as "rich people issues" because in this book the family have everything except the happiness and the bond between the parents.

    2. Hi Makenna, if the book is anything like the movie then I can only imagine it is good! I also tried to read it last year but didn't get to due to covid so I watched the movie instead.

  26. The book I chose was "They Both Die At the End" by Adam Silvera. I chose this book because my friend recommended it to me and I have been wanting to read it for a while. It starts out right away with the characters getting told that within the next 24 hours they are going to die. So they have find ways to spend their last day without ending it sooner. I got hooked really quickly cause it jumped right into the story line instead of giving a huge intro.

  27. The book I am reading is called " Code of Silence" and I didn't really go through anything to find this book, I just picked one out and the other reason for me to pick this book because its a mystery and it seemed like an interesting story. The book starts off with 3 8th graders that are hanging out in a diner that is just hanging out and as soon as they leave 2 men just comes out of no where and just starts beating the owner of the diner and the three is still in the diner and they were to witness all of that and my thoughts on the book so far is that it really got me hooked onto the book and i really hope I learn more about the book than I know now.

  28. The book i am reading is called "Dear Evan Hansen". I chose this book because my brother read it last year and he really liked it so i wanted to give it a try. The book starts off by introducing Evan Hansen. Evan is a very anxious person and goes out of his way not to talk to people or be seen. He goes to therapy, writes in a journal and takes medication. I am pretty hooked on the book so far. I think Evan is a very relatable character for highschoolers because sometimes we all feel socially anxious like him.

  29. I chose to read the book "Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close" by Jonathan Foer. I chose to read this book because it deals a lot with 9/11 and I love hearing people's stories on 9/11 and how they were affected from it. The librarian helped me choose this book because I told her I liked to read books about murder and 9/11 and she led me to this book. This book is longer than any other book I have read before, but it has me hooked. The story is about a young boy named Oskar, whos dad died on 9/11. It also tells a story how Oskar tries to find what a key unlocks that he found in his dad's closet. The book has lots of pictures to break up the reading, which I like and helps me comprehend a little better. It gets confusing at times, because the chapters go back and forth talking about Oskar's life then back to talking about Oskar's grandmother. Overall, I really like my book so far and it is surprisingly a fast read due to there being lots of pictures in the book.

    1. I am glad you are reading your book and can relate to it because it makes it more enjoyable and easier to read. My book night isn't relatable to real time, but it gives us kind of a flash back of the past and educates us on what happened and gives us some warning signs so something like that doesnt happen again.

  31. The book I chose to read was "P.S. I Still Love You" and I decided to read this because I have already seen the movie of the first part (To all the boys I've loved before) which kind of left you on a cliff hanger so I wanted to read the next part. The book starts off by giving some background information to refresh people's memories on the first part. It talks about how Lara Jean and Peter are broken up and why they're broken up. After the background information, it leads right into New Years day with Lara Jeans whole family. Then Lara Jean decided to go to Peter's house and apologize which ends up with them getting back together, but not officially.

I have never read these books but I have seen the movies. I do agree that the first movie left off with a cliff hanger. I think it would be interesting to see the differences from the movie and the book. As well as what details were left out of the movies.

  32. I choose to read "Night" by Elie Wiesel. I wanted to read this book so badly because I wrote it down as my first choice for book two and sadly was not able to get it. I am very interested in all WWll events but mainly the Holocaust. It was a horrible event but I am so fascinated in learning more about it and specifically from first person. I have not been disappointed so far as I am learning a lot even though at points it is very hard to read because of the brutal events. I look forward to reading the rest of the book.

    2. I agree with you. The books premise is very interesting but actually reading the book is so hard and makes me want to put it down sometimes because of the atrocities that happen throughout. Like when they strip the jews of their crowns from their teeth and when they divide them out by age and who's weak and who's not.

  33. I chose to read the book "Tuesday's With Morrie". I really like it so far. Morrie is a professor who has made a large impact on all the students he teaches. I chose this book because we are reading it in Comp. But so far it has me hooked because Morrie is such a great role model to Mitch who is one of his former students. And even though i am only about 20 pages in I am learning so much about each one of there lives.- Maci Steffen

  34. I choose to read The Sea of Monsters. I have been trying to get my hands on this book for awhile and now I got it. I am very interested in Greek mythology which made me get reeled in by the book. This book starts off with Percy fighting monsters in a gym. I like this book at this moment so I look forward to the ending.

  35. I am reading the book "Every Last Word". I choose this book because it looked simple and the description of it made it seem like an interesting book. I think the book is a good one. It is most definitely a roller coaster book. It has times where it is boring but also has times where you don't want to stop reading. I am excited to keep reading into my book and answer the questions I have about it.

    2. I also have read this book, and to be honest I didn't really like it. It was pretty boring with no real climax so it was hard to stay hooked. I also found almost everything Morrie said to be extremely cliche'. However, there are some things mentioned in the book that do make you think about your life in a different way.

  37. I chose the book Sorry not Sorry by Sophie Rynolds. Technically I did not chose my book. I found myself looking at books that was the same as every book I have ever picked out for myself so i decided to ask for a recommendation and this is the book I received. It is about a 20 something year old girl and the struggles life throws at her. i find this book interesting but not exactly a i cannot put the book down type of read, but i am only half way through so i am hoping for a dramatic twist yet.

  38. I choose the book Night because wanted to read about the holocaust from the jew's point of view. The way the book started was a little strange by talking about this person named Moishe who no one paid attention to even though he knew that they would be captured by the Germans soon enough. I started to like the book more when Elie and his father were sent to a concentration camp with everyday being tougher than the last.

  39. I chose the book Night, and so far it is about what I expected it to be. I chose this book initially for book number two, but didn't get it. So when I got the option to pick this book, I knew exactly what I was going to choose. Another reason why I chose this book was because it was one of the shorter books, yet still had great context. The book starts relatively slow, in fact I was a little bit confused at first. However, as soon as they went to the concentration camp I was able to connect with the book. I am actually really hooked on the book, some of the scenes are almost as if if I am there with the characters.

  40. I am reading Where She Went, it is a sequel to the book If I Stay. I chose this book because I enjoyed the first an was intrigued to read the second one. The first book is show from Mia's point of view and now in the second book it is from Adam's point of view. At first I did not like this since the first book was from Mia's point of view I expected the second book to be from her point of view again. Although it is interesting to see from Adam's perspective of the aftermath of Mia and him separating.

  41. The book I chose to read is "Woods Runner" by Gary Paulson. I saw this book in the library and I thought the cover looked interesting, I then figured out that it was a Revolutionary War book and I decided to read it. The book starts off with a bang, a 13 year old boy is out hunting for his meal, when he comes back his parents are gone and there house is burnt down. This leads to many different challenges. I think that he handles this fairly well, he seems to be very mature for a 13 year old.

  45. 1. the author creates a image like how sarahs room looks or how the court room looks. 2. i think this takes place around a year before the george floyd case. 3. he kinda walks through it and it kinda goes back and runs through what happened up to that point so u dont get confused but sometime you would have to reread to not skip through anything. 4. The way the dad who killed jerome looks he looked like he didnt sleep and pale and old. 5. sarahs room i dont know but i can visualize sarahs room very well and i can see every thing it does kinda get mixed up here and there but the more he explains it the more i see.

  46. I am reading the book Moneyball by Michael Lewis and so far in the book it's explaining how MLB scouts look at how baseball players play and what is good about them and if there good enough to be drafted by any of the team's in the MLB, the main player in the book is Billy Bean who at the time is in high school but is most likely to be drafted right out of high school, but Billy wanted to go to school rather then play pro baseball right away, but Billy ended up being drafted by the New York Mets, but Billy still wanted to go to school, then the Mets head scout invited him to a game and had him look around the team's clubhouse and they had a locker with a jersey with his last name on the back and he got to meet some of the players but after the game he still wanted to go to school but he ended signing with the Mets, but after awhile Billy started to have second thoughts about it.

  47. I chose to read the book "Sarah's Key" by Tatiana De Rosnay. I chose this book because my mom has always told me to read it as she thinks I would enjoy it. I am quite interested in stories and books that discuss past events in history, such as World War II and other powerful historical events. The book started out diving right into something interesting when her family was being rounded up and taken from their home. This was surprising but I was glad something interested happened right away and I didn't get uninterested or bored before I even really start getting into the book. So far I am pretty hooked on the book and am enjoying it thoroughly, there's not really any lagging parts in it that make me want to stop reading.
